Lucy Canzoneri-Golden taught for two years in Harlem, New York, one year at a private international pre-school near the United Nations Building, and four years in Miami as a Drama and English-as-a-Second-Language teacher in a Title I program. Subsequently, she taught in a Montessori and Title I school for six years, working with 6-12 year olds, and serving as a 6-9 year-old teacher the first year Coral Reef Montessori Academy opened. Lucy is a member of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI)—a world peace educational and cultural organization. As a practicing Buddhist, she finds compatibility with Montessori philosophy, especially in the area of nonviolent resolution of conflict. She is very active with in the local SGI-USA movement.

Mrs. Canzoneri-Golden holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts and Elementary Education from Hunter College in New York City, NY, and a Master of Science in Montessori Education from Barry University. Ms. Canzoneri-Golden also holds a “Director’s Credential” in Early Childhood.

Aside from Lucy’s commitment to Montessori education, she enjoys taking the Middle School students to the UN Global Citizen Action Program along with the Chair of the Peace Committee, Alicia Alonzo. She also enjoys organizing professional development opportunities with the CRMA staff and keeping abreast of the Montessori Educational Policy and research. Ms. Canzoneri-Golden has been married for 36 years and is the proud mother of four children—ages 35, 31, 26, and 23—and grandmother to Nakai and Orion. Her two youngest children attended CRMA since it’s inception and graduated from the school.
