Rachel King (aka Ms. Rachel) was born in San Francisco and grew up in Oregon, where she learned to love gardening with her Mother.

She earned her BS in Biology at the University of Oregon in 1989, and served as a Forestry volunteer for the Peace Corps in Costa Rica from 1991 to 1993. She loved it so much that she stayed for another year and decided to study Tropical Biology.

Rachel started to work on her PHD in Biology at the University of Miami in 1995, where her research focused on tropical plant demography and seed dispersal by bats in Peru.

She has two sons attending CRMA and started as a parent volunteer on the Green Committee. Ms. Rachel began working as the Garden Coordinator in 2012. She has a passion for introducing kids to the beauty of nature and the joys of growing their own delicious vegetables.
