Mrs. Miriam Encalada was born June 16, 1968 in the United States, but moved to Ecuador at the age of three and lived there until 19 years of age. In Ecuador, she studied at a private Catholic school for girls from K-12 grade. Returning to the United States, she began to study pharmacology, obtaining a Pharmacy Technician Certificate in 1998 while working at Walgreens Pharmacy. In 2000, after Mrs. Encalada got the Senior Pharmacy Technician Trainer Certificate, she enrolled in Miami-Dade College and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Pharmacy.

When her oldest daughter, Victoria (then a 3rd grader) and son Rodrigo (then pre-K) joined Coral Reef Montessori Academy as students, Mrs. Encalada was inspired by their teachers and began contemplating a career switch. She joined the CRMA staff in 2007 as an assistant teacher for the 3rd grade, and in the same year, obtained her Florida Child Care Certification (FCCC). In 2009, Mrs. Encalada obtained her Florida Teaching Substitute Certification. She worked as a Substitute and assistant teacher from Kindergarten thru Middle School in the Math Area. In 2010, inspired by The Montessori philosophy, she decided to pursue her degree in Exceptional Teacher Education and graduated in 2012.

Mrs. Encalada’s daughter Victoria graduated from CRMA in 2009, and her son Rodrigo, graduated in 2014. Both were well prepared academically and spiritually for the transition from Montessori preK-8 to a public high school. She thanks all of her teachers for making this transition period easy for them. Gabriela, her youngest daughter, is in 8th grade. Her hobbies are baking, cooking and traveling. She visited Montreal this summer and had a wonderful time. Mrs. Encalada dislikes clutter and disorganization.
