We are so fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team of parents support all of the programs of Coral Reef Montessori Academy.  Directing and galvanizing our parent volunteers is our PTA Board, who offer outstanding effort and incredible support to our school and our students.  Thank you to our 2017-2018 PTA Board Members for their most excellent dedication and service.

Lissette Montenegro (President):
Lissette Montenegro was born in Long Beach, California and relocated to Miami with her family when she was a teenager.  She graduated from Coral Reef Senior High here in the community and went on to major in Special Education both at Miami Dade College and Florida International University.  In 2013, Lissette completed her Montessori training for ages 0-3 through the North American Montessori Center and is passionate about the Montessori method and the growth she has seen in her children since applying. She has been married nine years and has two little girls, both of which are part of the CRMA family. In her free time, she enjoys time with family, reading and most recently, distance running. She looks forward to another wonderful year at CRMA!

Rosemary Smith-Hoel (Vice President—Membership and Volunteer Hours): 
Rosemary Smith Hoel M.S., L.M.H.C., C.A.P., is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Fellowship House, a behavioral health program for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She has a Master’s of Science Degree in Counselor Education from Florida International University. She is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Addictions Professional. Rosemary was born and raised in Miami where she lives with her husband Robert and their two children who both attend CRMA.

Ximena Botero (Membership):
Ximena moved to the United States from Colombia in 2001 and is a graduate from Miami Dade College where she earned a degree as a Dental Hygienist. She has three children who attend CRMA and has been an active member of the community, helping in school activities and as a room parent every year for the past 6 years. She has a passion for helping others and looks forward to continuing her involvement with the PTA.

Jan Nonog (Vice President—Marketing): 
Jan was born and grew up in England. She is a Freelance Graphic Designer with over 30 years experience in Advertising, Marketing and Design. She left England in 2004 for a posting in Guam at Andersen Air Force Base with husband U.S. Air Force MSgt. Tony Nonog (Retired). After completing a follow-on posting in Panama City, Florida, they moved to Miami in 2010 with their son who loves being a part of the CRMA family. She has a passion for photography and is constantly trying to improve her skills.

Norayda Forte (Event Planning):
Norayda Forte was born in LA, but came to Florida at only 6 months old. She served 8 years in the Army Reserve Medical Corps as a 91V (Respiratory Therapist). She then worked as a Nurse until 2011 when the last of her four kids was born at which point she decided to become a stay at home mom. She has been married for 18 years and has her two youngest at CRMA. I look forward to being able to help my CRMA family.

Sheri Toyosi (Secretary):
Sheri Toyosi grew up in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland (Go Terps). She moved with her newly acquired husband to the sunshine state in January 2011. She has a master’s degree in Business Administration and currently works as a civil servant with a Federal Government Agency. She has two beautiful children; one who attends CRMA and loves it. Her hobbies include reading and experiencing new adventures with family.

Martha Hunter (Treasurer):
Martha M. Hunter, C. P. A. graduated from Florida International University’s Chapman Graduate School of Business with an Executive Master of Science in Taxation. She has over ten years experience in private and public accounting. Martha has two wonderful daughters. One is currently enrolled at CRMA and the youngest is eager to be a part of the school family. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sewing, and baking/decorating.

Rachel King (Co-Chair, Green Committee):
Rachel King (aka Ms. Rachel) was born in San Francisco and grew up in Oregon, where she learned to love gardening with her Mother. She earned her BS in Biology at the University of Oregon in 1989, and served as a Forestry volunteer for the Peace Corps in Costa Rica from 1991 to 1993. She loved it so much that she stayed for another year and decided to study Tropical Biology. Rachel started to work on her PHD in Biology at the University of Miami in 1995, where her research focused on tropical plant demography and seed dispersal by bats in Peru.
She has two sons attending CRMA and started as a parent volunteer on the Green Committee. Ms. Rachel began working as the Garden Coordinator in 2012. She has a passion for introducing kids to the beauty of nature and the joys of growing their own delicious vegetables.

Susan Homyk (Co-Chair, Green Committee):
Mrs. Susan Homyk was born in Massachusetts and has lived in Miami for 13 years.  Her education is in Early Childhood Education and she earned a Bachelors Degree from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. She has substituted and volunteered at a number of Montessori schools, including Kingswood Montessori, Alexander Montessori and other private Montessori environments. Mrs. Homyk’s eldest two sons have both graduated from CRMA Middle School and her youngest son is in 6th grade.  She began serving as a parent volunteer seven years ago and later became our AfterCare Program Coordinator.

Monica Encinas (Faculty Representative, PreK-K):
Monica Encinas was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and has been living in Miami since the age of 12. She has worked at CRMA since 2001 as a VPK teacher and Assistant. Monica has an AA and AS in Early Childhood Education and graduated from Miami Dade College in May 2010 with a BS in Exceptional Education, with endorsements in both ESOL and Reading. In August 2010, she became the lead teacher in a preK-K classroom for ages 3-6. She has been married since 1990 and has three boys and one princess (two are CRMA Montessori preK-8 graduates who are now in college) and two grandchildren. As an active parent, she has always held a PTA officer position, and served as President of the PTA for 2 years.

Mariaximena Gamboa (Faculty Representative, 1st to 3rd Grade):
Mariaximena Gamboa was born in Valdivia, Chile and has been living in Miami since 2005. She began college in 2013 to get her Nursing Degree.
She has been married since 2005 and has 2 boys one of whom has been a CRMA student since 2013.

Tammy King (Faculty Representative, 4th to 6th Grade):
Tammy King has been with Miami-Dade Public Schools since 1991 and holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Elementary Montessori Education. She has earned AMS Montessori credentials for ages 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12. Montessori is a way of life for Tammy, she was introduced to Montessori as a child when she attended her mother’s Montessori preschool and her mother also has a Masters degree in Montessori Education. She has two children who began in Pre-K and graduated from CRMA, they are now both in college. Her hobbies include reading and spending time with friends and family.
